New Irons & Balls from Bridgestone Golf (Interview)
February 20th 2008One of the more interesting booths at the Demo Day event at the 2008 PGA Merchandise show was that from Bridgestone Golf. Bridgestone invited people to hit their current ball of choice and then compared it to the best suited Bridgestone equivalent ball. The whole process was monitored by a sophisticated launch monitor and ball fitter experts. While i was there i certainly saw a lot of surprised faces when they realized that their beloved Pro V1 that they had been paying $3-5 dollars per ball for was not in fact the optimal ball for their swing! Good thing their wives didn’t hear that.
We also had a chat with Jason Loudermilk, one of the ball fitters, who gave us an overview of the whole process, as well as a glimpse at some of the new Bridgestone Golf Irons, including a beautiful set of blades. One of the coolest things about their offering is that they will create a totally custom set of irons - some hybrids, some cavity-backs, some blades or combination there of, for each customer. Nice idea, and one that will likely help many golfers find their ‘dream set’.
